Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, and Warwick — TMUA preparation
You sit a timed TMUA-format paper. We then review the full script: what happened under the clock, what held the mark back, how TMUA sits in selection for your course, and what to change first.

The TMUA under timed conditions
The paper compresses reasoning speed, logical precision, and method choice on unfamiliar layouts. Work that reads well untimed can still cap the mark once the format and timer apply.
Predicted grades are a weak guide to the script under pressure: time is short, stems are unfamiliar, and a poor method or attack order can cost several marks at once.
Diagnosis before workload
The first step is a timed paper in the right format. The report is a performance read of the full script: what happened under time, what held the mark back, and what to change first. It is not a topic list from memory.
- Under the timer: pacing, order of attack, and where the script lost time
- What held the score back: topic gaps, slips, or methods that failed under pressure
- Admissions context: how this paper is used in shortlisting or selection for your course
- What to fix first: a short list ordered by marginal gain on marks, not by topic comfort
- Sensible next step: clear priorities after the conversation; proportionate follow-on, whether or not we continue
After the diagnosis: how sessions run
Session content follows the report. Effort is directed where it is most likely to move the mark.
- Timed papers in the correct format, marked so you can see where each mark was gained or lost
- Teaching aimed at what is most likely to cap the mark until it is corrected
- Set preparation between sessions when a programme is in place
- Interview preparation when the application route requires it
This is structured admissions preparation, not ad hoc hourly tutoring. Fee and intensity follow your starting point, target course, and time to the test; we agree scope after the timed paper and the results conversation.
How it runs
1. Short application
Course, timeline, and recent marks so the paper can be set at an appropriate level of stretch.
2. Fit call (15 minutes)
Logistics and exactly how the timed paper will run.
3. Timed paper
Work in test format. The full script is retained as the evidence base.
4. Results conversation
We go through the script in order: the pattern behind the mark, the main constraint, and the first changes to make.
5. Next step
If we proceed, scope follows the paper. If not, you leave with the diagnosis and priorities written down.
Who this is for
A good fit if:
- Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, Warwick, or similar where TMUA carries weight in selection
- Very strong A-Level Maths (Further Maths is typical among competitive entrants)
- Able to complete agreed preparation between sessions
Not a good fit if:
- One-off help with no follow-through on agreed preparation
- Choosing mainly on a low hourly rate
- More practice volume without a written read of where marks went
